MySource Matrix 3.2.1 Released
Versions 3.2.1 stable and 3.3.1 beta of MySource Matrix have been released and are now available on the MySource Matrix web site for download. All current 3.2.0 systems should be upgraded to 3.2.1 to fix a number of bugs discovered since 3.2.0.
Just a reminder that the 3.3.1 beta release does not include support for MySQL and so existing clients will need to be moved to PostgreSQL if they want to move to the beta version or if they will be upgraded to 3.4.0 once released.
Signed Java Applets
Since the Java asset map was introduced, the applet has been signed internally. Users of MySource Matrix are presented with a certificate that they must accept when using the administration interface. The certificate listed Squiz.Net as an untrusted company. The new certificate has been issued by "Thawte Consulting cc" and is listed as being issued by a trusted company.
New Features
Inbox Marks Messages As Read
Added to: 3.3.1 beta, 3.5.0 development
When viewing the inbox of a user to read internal messages, you are able to preview the message by clicking on the subject. This did not previously mark the message as read. You had to lock the inbox and select the messages using the checkboxes provided.
Now, the inbox marks previewed messages as read even if the inbox is not locked. Note that it does not change the icon that indicates that themessage as been read until after the page has been refreshed.
New Attributes For Image Assets
Added to: 3.5.0 development
Six new attributes have been added to image asset. The new attributes are used to store alt text, title text, an image caption, image width, image height and image size. Thw width, height, and size attributes are generated automatically whenever a file is uploaded.
When upgrading development systems, run step 3 of the install to install these new attributes and auto populate all fields in existing images except the caption field.
Asset Listing Shows Non-live Assets
Added to: 3.5.0 development
The Asset Listing page now shows non-live assets assets if you have write access to them (like the design menu and site maps do). This is required to be able to preview asset listings without having to make all your assets live.
This is going to slow down large asset listings so this change has only been made to the development version of MySource Matrix until we decide if it needs to be optional.
Files Allow Restricted Urls
Added to: 3.5.0 development
There is a new option for file assets called "Allow Unrestricted Access". This option allows files to stop the unrestricted __data URL from being created when the file is live and publicly accessible. This option is on by default so all files use __data if they can. Turn this off to revert to the standard MySource Matrix URL.
This option is useful for things like robots.txt files that need to be unrestricted but need a MySource Matrix URL because they have a specific URL, such as www.example.com/robots.txt

Notes:
Bug #418 (Issues with links with certain character combinations) was submitted by Chris N but was marked as not being a bug because an option existed to turn of keyword replacements in bodycopy DIVs.
