3.6.0 Release Next Week
The new stable version of MySource Matrix will be released on Monday. Version 3.6.0 will include a range of great new features to allow for more advanced web sites to be created.
We will also be tagging version 3.4.6 on Monday. While this version will not be officially released, it will be made available for existing 3.4.x client upgrades. A few bugs have been fixed in this version, so clients should be encouraged to upgrade to 3.4.6 if they dont want to upgrade all the way to 3.6.0.
Farewell Blair
Squiz says goodbye to Blair Robertson this week. Blair was the original lead developer of MySource Matrix and wrote the very first lines of code for the project, as well as many many more after that. So long Blair and good luck in whatever comes next.
New MySource Matrix Developer
A new MySource Matrix developer started this week in the Sydney office. Please make Rayn Ong feel welcome.
Newlines In Localised Strings
Originally, new lines could not be handled by the version of the XML_Tree PEAR module that was bundled with MySource Matrix. This required editors of the localised files to manually insert '\\n' strings into the source XML files. The recent upgrade of the bundled version of XML_Tree in the Dev and 3.6.0 RC2 versions now preserve line breaks when parsing XML files, allowing the '\\n' strings to be removed from the localised files.
If you are also finding unescaped '\\n' strings in internal messages on your Dev or 3.6.0 RC2 version, this update will fix that issue.
New Features
Dependant Assets Created With Same Status
Added to: 3.7.0 development
An important change has been made with regards to the initial status of newly created assets. When an asset is created, if the initial link is dependant then the asset's initial status is set to the status of its first parent, as long as there are no workflow schemas applied to that parent.
For example, when creating a new DIV on a live standard page without workflow, the new DIV will be created with an initial status of live when it was previously create with a status of under construction.

Notes:
Bug #895 (Deprecated code and parse error in installer) was submitted by Jeremy_Gregson but was marked as not being a bug because PHP5 was being used to run the installer, which is not a supported PHP version for MySource Matrix.
