Yes, I Know It's Thursday...
But since I won't be working tomorrow (it is Good Friday and a long weekend, after all), the newsletter is being prepared and sent out on the Thursday this week, rather than the Friday.
Three New MySource Matrix Releases
MySource Matrix 3.14.0 RC1 was released last Monday. This is the first release of the new 3.14 branch, containing about 70 new features. An upgrade guide is in the process of being prepared and will be available with the release of 3.14.0 on 7th May - until then, no support is provided for upgrading 3.12 systems to the release candidate.
Two new bug-fix releases (3.12.3 and 3.10.8) were also released on Monday. The 3.10.9 release next month will be the last regular release of the 3.10 branch. Until then, developers should be maintaining four versions (3.10, 3.12, 3.14, and dev) for development and bug-fixing.
New Features
Account Manager: Disable Auto Simple Edit
Added to: 3.15.0 development
This new option will disable the automatic redirection to the Simple Edit interface when a logged-in user accesses the Account Manager page.
Disable Edit Interface CSS in Simple Edit
Added to: 3.15.0 development
The Layout Manager's Details screen now offers the ability to disable Simple Edit interface formatting, that by default makes Simple Edit interfaces look similar to the Admin interface. Disabling Simple Edit formatting may allow easier creation of custom Simple Edit interfaces.
Improved Conf Variable Handling in Import
Added to: 3.15.0 development
Previously, in an import XML definition, config variables (in the format "[[conf://...]]") could only be used by themselves in a node value. Now it is possible to use other text and variables around them in the same node.

Notes:
Bug #2299 (Anchored commit button always shown) was reported by Avi Miller but was marked as not being a bug. The report stated that when the "anchored commit button" (see last newsletter) was turned on, it would be printed all the time. However, in circumstances such as on the Details screen on most assets, the commit button must still be printed even if no locks are held, because of the possibility of changing status. On screens where a commit button is not printed, the anchored button does not appear either.
Bug #2301 (Asset listing showing non-live items) was reported by Richard. This bug is a duplicate of Bug #2291 (Listing with no status filter shows assets that shouldn't be seen) that was reported by Robert Howard on March 29th. The duplicate bug has been closed.
