Releases of 3.10.6, 3.12.1 Next Week
The next point releases of MySource Matrix - 3.10.6 and 3.12.1 - are due out next Monday, 5th February 2007. Version 3.10.6 offers 21 bug fixes and one minor feature addition; 3.12.1 offers 28 fixes and 3 quite small improvements. The GPL releases will hit the MySource Matrix web site sometime on Monday afternoon.
New Features
Metadata Date Keyword Drop-Down Optional
Added to: 3.13.0 development
One of the features of a Metadata Date Field is that it allows users to set the value of the field to be the same as that of one of the standard asset date values - when the asset was created, last updated, last published, or status last changed. This was made available through a drop-down that appeared next to the date field.
This drop-down can now be omitted for metadata fields that do not require it. This can be changed using a new setting, "Show Keyword Selector", in the Metadata Date Field's Details screen.
Set Permission Trigger Action Improvement
Added to: 3.13.0 development
The Set Permission Trigger Action now uses a Parameter Map to determine the user it should set the permission to. This allows you to set users through things such as request variables. Note that selecting a static user should be done through the new Parameter Map source, "Static Asset ID", which will populate a value of a parameter with the ID of an asset selected from an asset finder.
Set Tag Trigger Action
Added to: 3.13.0 development
Just as it says on the tin, this new trigger action allows you to set (or remove) a tag within a trigger. The weighting to apply to the tag is customisable, and tags can be cascaded or manually cascaded by the trigger action.
Set Role Trigger Action
Added to: 3.13.0 development
Again, almost as it says on the label. This new trigger action allows you to set a local role assignment, setting the users/groups that will perform a given role on an asset.
Automatic Synonym Searching
Added to: 3.13.0 development
A new addition to the Search Page asset. Currently, a Search Page can be set up so that a list of synonyms extracted from a nominated thesaurus can be displayed as a "did you mean" query. Now, you can also set up the Search Page so that if no results are found with the original search terms, a second search will automatically take place using the synonyms of the search terms, if any are found.
Please note that any synonyms gained from words in the search query will run as an "OR" query, regardless of the word logic of the original query.

Notes:
Bug #2059 (Cloning asset builders in 3.12 HIPO goes blank) was reported by Christopher Horikx on 25th January 2007 but was marked as Can Not Replicate. Attempts to replicate the issue on a relevant system did not succeed.
Bug #2070 (Asset Listing Grouping, Nesting Groups) was reported by James Hunter but was marked as Can Not Replicate. The report suggested that on the allegedly bugged system, an Asset Listing with two levels of Custom Grouping were displaying one after the other, rather than nested. This could not be replicated on developers' systems.
Bug #2073 (Custom Form not sending emails) was reported by Deborah Sherwood but was marked as Can Not Replicate. Developers were unable to replicate the problem on testing systems. It was suggested that the email setup on the system be tested - for example, by making a configuration change and checking that an email is sent to the technical contact.
Bug #2075 (Multiple Page - Updated metadata not showing in frontend design area) was reported by Jerome Bonnet, and is currently marked as having a Workaround available. This related to issues with the Metadata design area and Multiple Page Pages, who do not have a Metadata screen. Asset keywords for metadata defer to its parent, however the Metadata design area accesses the Metadata Manager directly and therefore cannot currently do the same. The workaround is to use a MySource_PRINT tag to print the appropraite metadata keyword for the current asset. This requires further investigation to determine whether there is an appropriate fix for this issue (as what the Metadata design area is is currently correct technically, as there is no metadata applied to that asset) without adversely affecting systems such as indexing. Although reported in 3.12.0, it is possible that any fix committed here may either be added to Dev only, or held until after 3.12.1's release, due to the likely risk changes of this scale could produce.
