MySource Matrix User Conference: 7 Weeks To Go

A reminder that the inaugural MySource Matrix International User Conference is now only seven weeks away! The event, to be held on 13th and 14th September at the Radisson Resort on the Gold Coast, provides an excellent opportunity to maximise your investment in the MySource Matrix CMS.

The two day program will include a number of keynote speeches and case studies, from industry leaders and current users of MySource Matrix, in the areas of content management and web technology. Plus, you will be a part of the first public preview of the eagerly anticipated MySource 4.0.

New Features

LDAP Bridge: Alias Dereferencing Options

Added to: 3.15.0 development

LDAP directory servers typically allow you to create alias entries, that point to other entries in the directory. Many also have the power to dereference these entries when searching, usually in two places - when locating the entry representing the base DN (so that if the base DN is an alias, the real entry is used instead), and when searching the directory (so entries pointed to by searched alias entries are also searched).

Previously, MySource Matrix's LDAP Bridge asset would not dereference entries at either point, however a new option has been added to allow dereferencing of entries at either or both points.

Note that this a fairly advanced feature that requires knowledge of whether and how your LDAP directory uses aliases. If your directory server does not use aliases, it is not worth turning this feature on.

Ecommerce Form: Customised eSec Reference ID

Added to: 3.15.0 development

The Ecommerce Form asset now allows you to customise the reference ID that is sent to the eSec Payment Gateway asset for processing. This may allow you to avoid clashes in reference IDs due to a session still being active for more than one submission of an Ecommerce Form. Keywords for Session ID and current time are available to encourage uniqueness of the reference ID.

Planned Development

No new generic features are currently scheduled for development.

Upgrading

3.15.0 Development

Additional queries: No additional queries are required for upgrades.

Additional comments:

As part of the fixes for bug #2524, the method of storing metadata in each asset has changed to better support value components. If you use value components in your Metadata Schema assets, your metadata schemas will need be regenerated to work properly. Similarly, if your metadata was having other problems such as those described by bug #2524, regenerating your metadata schemas may help.

Notes:

Bug #2528 ("Standard Asset Field - Asset Contents, not working", reported by Sam Butler on 23rd July) was marked as Not a Bug. The original bug report suggested that searching by the Asset Contents standard field was not working for PDF File assets. However, the PDF File assets were set to not be indexed in the Asset Tree Weightings screen of the MySource Matrix system.

Bug #2538 ("Single quotes in custom form titles not being escaped", reported by johnm on 26th July) was marked as Can Not Replicate, and later confirmed as not a bug within Matrix. The bug report suggested an SQL error due to the non-escaping of a single quote in the name of a Form Question. The error was traced by the bug reporter to a change in character encoding (from Latin-1 to UTF-8) during an upgrade of PostgreSQL.

Bug #2544 ("MS 2007 doc html tags not cleaned with Replace text or adding extra tags", reported by Jessica Getty on 27th July) was marked as Not a Bug. This bug report regarded extra tags being added when copying and pasting from a Microsoft Word 2007 document into the MySource Matrix WYSIWYG editor. This is an issue relating to Word and/or the browser, and not with Matrix - the WYSIWYG editor cannot assume that these extra tags are intended or not, and therefore cannot perform any additional processing.
