Next Monday's Releases
There will be three versions of MySource Matrix released next Monday, 7th May 2007.
Version 3.14.0 will be the first stable release of the new 3.14.x branch of MySource Matrix. The 3.14.x branch has around 70 new features and improvements over the 3.12.x series, including one additional feature added since the release candidate (the ability to set the dictionary used by the spell checker in External Tools - see "New Features" in this newsletter). Version 3.14.0 will also contain a number of fixes to bugs that were identified in the release candidate.
Version 3.12.4 will provide further fixes to bugs that were identified in version 3.12.3. Finally, version 3.10.9 will also be released, which is expected to be the final release of the 3.10.x branch of MySource Matrix.
New Features
Dynamic Parameters for DB Data Source
Added to: 3.15.0 development
New functionality has been developed in the DB Data Source to allow for dynamic queries of the form:
SELECT * FROM table WHERE column = %%VARIABLE%%
In this query, %%VARIABLE%% is a keyword whose value is extracted from the environment (GET/POST/Current User/Current Site/Current Asset) using a parameter map. These variables can be used anywhere within a manually-configured query. This feature will greatly reduce the number of assets required because this asset will represent many similar queries instead of just one.
Link Existing Bulkmail Users in Import
Added to: 3.15.0 development
Bulkmail Users in a Matrix system are set up so that e-mail addresses are unique system-wide. Previously, importing users using Import Bulkmail Users system tool would result in errors if an imported e-mail address conflicted with an existing one in the system. Now, a check-box option allows a new link to be created between the import folder and the existing Bulkmail User if such a conflict would occur.
Language Selection for Spell Checker
Added to: 3.15.0 development
A new option, found in the External Tools Configuration screen, allows you to change the dictionary used by the "pspell" spell checker, used by MySource Matrix in such areas as WYSIWYG spell checking and misspelling suggestions in the Search Manager. Note that you must have already enabled support for that particular language dictionary into pspell, or this will not work.
