New Matrix Releases due Monday 4th May
The next release of MySource Matrix will be next Monday 4th May, when versions 3.20.4 and 3.22.0 - the first stable release of 3.22 - are made available.
Default Memory Limit and Roles settings changed for new installations
New installations beginning from 3.22.0 now have an increased memory limit default of 64Mb for Cron and Web processes. This will not modify any stored values for systems during upgrades - this is just for fresh installations.
The Roles system is also disabled by default for increased performance. This can be enabled from System Configuration in the backend to provide Roles functionality.
New Features
Video File asset
Added to: 3.23.0 development, 3.22.0 stable, 3.20.4 stable
A new Video File asset, graciously contributed by Nic Hubbard, has been added to the Matrix core. Like the MP3 File asset, this asset uses the getID3 third-party application.
The supported video extensions are: .mov, .avi, .wmv, .asf, .flv, .mp4, .m4v, .mpg, .mpeg . Video metadata is extracted by getID3 upon upload and these can be overridden and extracted again from the 'Details' screen.
The Bulk File Import Tool has also been amended to automatically create Video File assets when uploading files manually or from the server which match any of the supported file extensions.
Planned Development
No new generic features are currently scheduled for development.

It is recommended that at least getID3 version 1.7.9 is installed to fully support metadata extraction for the new Video File asset.

Notes:
Bug #3607 ("Search results page not XHTML Strict", reported by jlu on Apr 20th) was marked "Partially fixed". The aspect of this report regarding XHTML validation on a duplicate ID has been left unfixed due to the code residing in Listing Engine. If there is to be a resolution for this issue, this will need careful planning and thorough testing. The initial reported issue has been resolved however.
Bug #3633 ("No error message on password reset when username does not exist", reported by dletorey on Apr 29th) was marked "Not a bug". Matrix does not make a distinction between an invalid username, password, or locked account in keeping with security conventions related to access to user accounts.
