Two New MySource Matrix Releases

Just a reminder that the GPL versions of MySource Matrix versions 3.18.1 and 3.16.8 were released last Monday, are now available for you to download from the MySource Matrix web site.

New Features

Multiple Proxy Support

Added to: 3.19.0 development, 3.18.2 stable, 3.16.9 stable

When MySource Matrix accesses URLs for its own purposes (Remote Content, Links Report, etc.), the Proxy Authentication screen can be set to pass these requests through a single proxy.

This new feature will allow additional proxy servers to be specified, to be used when a URL requested by Matrix matches a certain pattern (possible types are exact match, begins with, ends with, contains; all of which can be inverted).

If no alternative proxies are matched, the primary proxy will be used. If any proxy was set up before this feature appears in your system, it will be used as the primary proxy.

System Maintenance Screen

Added to: 3.19.0 development

The new System Maintenance screen gets its first appearance this week. This new screen, accessible from a button to the right of the HIPO Herder link, allows you to view various types of information about your system.

When completed, the screen will list recommended maintenance tasks that should be performed on your system; some of these will be able to be performed from this screen.

E-Commerce System Updates

Added to: 3.19.0 development, 3.18.2 stable, 3.16.9 stable

The weekly round-up on the continuing work on the E-Commerce system, in this case on the Region-Specific Options screen:

- Delivery Prices by Weight. You can set a asset attribute or text metadata field to contain a weight value (units deliberately non-specific), that can be used to generate a delivery fee based on weight (eg. X amount of currency per weight unit). A default fee can also be specified for countries not explicitly assigned a delivery-by-weight fee.

- International Delivery Fee: An additional delivery fee will be charged for all countries, except those that are specified in this list. Example: an Australian business can set that deliveries to check-outs based in Australia and New Zealand are exempt from this fee.

- Conditional Delivery Fee: Extra rules can be set for certain countries, depending on the total cost of the cart (including other delivery fees). This can be the addition of an extra charge, or the complete removal of delivery fees (for example: "Free delivery in Australia to orders over $100"-type offers).

SOAP Server Asset

Added to: 3.19.0 development, 3.18.2 stable

This feature provides the framework for external systems to communicate with MySource Matrix. A set of actions for interacting with the system is in development.

Planned Development

No new generic features are currently scheduled for development.

Upgrading

New Bugs Added To Bug Tracker

Notes:

Bug #2998 ("Cursor does not display in WYSIWYG when using firefox", reported by Dave Letorey on 2nd May) has been marked to advise that a suitable workaround should be used. This issue has been fixed in the beta versions of Firefox 3, and only appears in Firefox 2. Although the cursor does not initially display, users can click in the text-box and start typing.
