Installing Sample Designs for MySource Matrix

Introduction

A sample design is a gzipped tar file that contains all the images and CSS needed to create and use the design within your system. This guide will show you have to use the design import system to import a MySource Matrix sample design.

From version 3.8 of MySource Matrix, a design import system has been integrated into MySource Matrix, making it easy to install and test sample designs. The import system removes the need to extract and upload the design files, as required in earlier systems.

Step 1 - Create a Design Asset

Create a new design asset in your MySource Matrix system and give it a name.

Step 2 - Go to the Import\Export Screen

Once the new design asset appears in the asset map, right-click on it and select Import\Export to go to the importing screen.

Step 3 - Lock the Screen

On the screen that appears, acquire the locks on the page by clicking the Acquire Lock(s) button at the top of the screen.

Step 4 - Upload the Sample Design File

Once the page has loaded, a file select box will appear underneath the Import section of the screen. Remembering where you downloaded the sample design to, click on the browse button and select the downloaded file. Once the file has been selected, press the Commit button to upload this design to the MySource Matrix system.

Step 5 - Apply the Sample Design

Now that the upload has been completed, there will be a new file entry under the Current Files section of the resulting screen. To apply the newly uploaded design to the design asset, click the Apply button next to the name of the uploaded file and press the Commit button.

The design asset has now been populated with the sample design's parse file and associated images. The design asset is ready to be applied to a site within your MySource Matrix system.

You can preview different sample designs without having to create a new design asset for each one. Upload all the sample designs to the same design asset using the steps above, then use the Apply option to apply a sample design to the design asset (see Step 5 - Apply the Sample Design).

When you have finished looking at that sample design, apply a different one. You will not have to create a new design asset or change the design of your site for the changes to take effect.
