Search

Introduction

The Search module adds integrated searching to your MySource Matrix system. Indexing occurs automatically, allowing you to concentrate on content editing while searching is handled by the system.

Search Page

The Search Page allows you to create an advanced search interface where visitors can search for assets and browse results. You can also easily include a "Search Again" and "Search in Search" section on your page.

The Search Page can be configured to allow a visitor to limit search results based on asset metadata and attributes. For example, a visitor can search for all pages that have the word 'Matrix' in the name and have 'Squiz' in the DC.Creator metadata tag. The Search Page can also be configured to limit search results based on asset type or location. For example, you can create a Search Page that will only search for images in your image library.

Search Box

The Search Box is a design area than can be added to your site designs to display a text box in which a visitor can enter search terms and in which the results displayed, without the user having to go to a nominated Search Page. The Search Box is highly configurable to allow it to fit into any site design.

Search List

The Search List page allows you to list the keywords that have been indexed for a particular metadata field or attribute, such as Keywords. The Search List shows all words that will produce search results and the number of results that will be returned.

Clicking on a search term will perform a search for that Keyword and produce the number of results that were displayed.

Search Folder

The Search Folder is a tool to allow MySource Matrix users to search for assets. The results are displayed in the Administration Interface through the asset map. Expanding the Search Folder will display the matching assets, allowing you to quickly access their administration interfaces no matter where they are located in the system.

The Search Folder allows the search to be limited by asset type, status, location, and search terms, and MySource Matrix will return assets that match the entered text in any of the asset bodcopy, attributes or metadata fields.

Search Manager

The Search Manager allows you to define weightings for search indexing. For example, if you weight the name of a page greater than the content, a page with matching search terms in the name will appear higher in the search result list than a page with matching search terms only in the content.

Search Log Report

This report allows you to report on all searches performed on the entire system within a specified period of time. This report can be used to view popular searches on your site, and optimise weightings of assets to ensure better search results.

You can specify how often the current report is maintained for before it is archived and a fresh report begun, in addition to the number of rows to display in the report.
