Matrix Newsletter - December 2017
31 Dec 2017 By Bartek Banda
Wow, it's December again already and another year is done and dusted. 2017 flew by in lightning speed but it still managed to bring us a lot of changes and new things for the Squiz Matrix product. In this newsletter, we take a look back at the year that was to remember and summarise the highlights of Squiz Matrix in 2017.
We had a total of 18 releases made this year including the last version for the 5.3 branch. Over 180 new features and enhancements were released for the 5.4 branch including lots of new Server Side JS enhancements, powerful new keywords and modifiers, many UI improvements, and several performance boosts and optimisations.
Our Roadmap tool had over 400 new ideas added to it by Squiz staff and customers, which makes it our biggest ideation and product feedback year to date.
A new About page was created where we posted our new Matrix Manifesto and our overall Squiz Matrix Product Vision. We also published some of our roadmap items on this page of what we hope to achieve as our short, mid, and long term goals.
A couple of new Content Templates were added to the Templates section including a new coloured feature box template and another one for easy creation of accordion based content.
We also added a new Media section to the site where we have started to publish videos, webinar recordings, and other media content relating to Squiz Matrix. Also, if you haven't already, make sure you check out the popular Unlock the Power of Squiz Matrix 5.4 webinar that I hosted back in June this year.
The Matrix site overall had a big year in terms of visitors with over 140,000 visits by 40,000+ users who viewed a total of 500,000+ pages. Our community forums were also busy with over 1700 new posts made by almost 6000 visiting users.
Gartner Inc. released its 2017 Magic Quadrant for Web Content Management and we were stoked to see Squiz Matrix included once again.
Squiz held their annual summits in the UK and Edinburgh which featured a presentation from Dave Letorey on new (and old) tips, tricks, and features in Squiz Matrix.
And of course, last by certainly not least, we finally announced the upcoming release of Matrix 6. 2017 was a big year in planning and development for both Matrix 5.5 and 6.0 which means 2018 is shaping up to big our biggest yet! We can't wait to share more news and sneak peaks for both of these big and exciting new releases in the coming months of the new year.
This last newsletter of 2017 caps off yet another great year for Squiz and the Squiz Matrix product. On behalf of the whole Matrix team, we finally just want to say thank you once again for your ongoing support, enthusiasm, and shared excitement for what we've achieved and even more so for what's to come.
We hope you have an awesome New Years Eve and we'll see you again in 2018!
