Matrix System Templates Updated

We've made minor updates to the System and Project templates that are available in the Matrix System Templates section of the site.

These have been updated to be more compatible with version 5.4 of Squiz Matrix and some minor bugs in the main design have also been fixed.

Upcoming New Features & Enhancements

With the dust of the latest releases still settling, we're already getting close to releasing new enhancements and features in the 5.4 branch. Let's take a look at some of the new changes that will be released in the coming months.

Keyword to List Direct Children

Similar to the existing %asset_parents% keyword, a new %asset_children% keyword has been developed which will give you an array of all the assets that are direct children of an asset.

You'll be able to return either Type 1, 2, or 3 (or all) child linked assets which you can then feed into some SSJS processing in order to create a basic listing of child assets without the need to use an Asset Listing.

as_asset Keyword Modifier Enhancement

Previously, the ^as_asset Keyword Modifier would only work when used against single asset IDs, for example, %asset_metadata_related_asset^as_asset:asset_name%.

Now, you'll also be able to use it on arrays of asset IDs as well as specify multiple values to return. For example, if you have a multiple related asset metadata field configured, you can print any information about the selected assets using a single keyword:

The example above would return an array of asset JSON objects containing the specified asset attributes and metadata, instead of the default array of asset IDs:

{"asset_name":"Manuals","asset_url_path":"\/manuals","asset_metadata_description":"The Matrix Manuals..."},
{"asset_name":"News","asset_url_path":"\/news","asset_metadata_description":"The latest news and announcements..."},
{"asset_name":"Resources","asset_url_path":"\/resources","asset_metadata_description":"All the resources..."},

Improved Filtering and Deleting in the Remap Manager

The Remap Manager has had some usability improvements added to it for easier filtering of all the remaps in your Matrix system.

You can now filter by remap type as well as the various attributes of a remap.

This allows for much easier and quicker management of remaps, especially as you can then also choose to delete all the filtered remaps instead of only having the option to delete all.
