Matrix Newsletter - April 2018
30 Apr 2018 By Bartek Banda
This month we only had a small patch release in version 188.8.131.52 for the 5.4 branch which contains 5 bug fixes.
Check out the release notes to see the full list of changes.
New Server Side JS Tutorial
A new Tutorial has been published that will show you how you can easily create lists of assets using only code through the use of SSJS and some recently added keywords.
The tutorial takes you through a basic example of how to list Image assets under a Standard Page that you can easily and quickly implement into a Paint Layout.
Squiz Matrix 5.5 UI Update
A big focus for the upcoming 5.5 release has been updates to many UI components of the Admin interface.
We've improved several areas and screens in order to make them easier to interact with and more pleasant to look at.
The latest changes currently in testing revolve around the left column Asset Map area and the main editing area.
A lot of the outside padding has been reduced, unnecessary borders and lines removed, and some elements have been re-positioned, making better use of the full window space.
We're still tweaking the final design around this, but we think these changes will go a long way of not only modernising the interface, but also bridging the gap between version 5 and the future big release of Matrix 6, which will feature a complete UI refactor.
5.5 Release Date
Unfortunately we don't have an official release date yet, as we're still finalising the last features and changes in order to make this release as good as possible.
We are hopeful to at least have a beta release at the end of May, with the aim to have the official 184.108.40.206 release sometime in June.
As always, we'll keep you posted on how we're tracking in next month's newsletter.
