Hiding an Asset from the Site Navigation Menu
Last Updated: 17 Dec 2015
The navigation menu within a Site is a direct reflection of the Asset Map, as shown in the figure below. The Asset Map for the Site is shown on the left and the navigation menus within the Site is shown on the right.
The relationship between the Asset Map and a Site navigation menu
By default, when you create an asset, it will appear in the navigation menu of the Site as assets are created as TYPE_1 linked assets. Sometimes there may be an asset that you want to hide from the navigation menu. For example, you might have an Image asset that you do not want to appear in the navigation menu. To hide an asset from the navigation menu, you need to change the link type of the asset to a TYPE_2 linked asset. To do this, right click on the name of the asset in the Asset Map and select Linking. Once you have clicked the Acquire Lock(s) button, a list will appear in the Current Linking section, as shown in the figure below.
The Current Linking section
In the list provided, select TYPE_2 and click Commit. The asset will now be hidden from the navigation menu of the Site, as shown in the figure below.
