Moving an Asset
Last Updated: 17 Dec 2015
As the navigation menu within a Site is a direct reflection of the Asset Map, the order of the assets in the Asset Map is important. If an asset has been created in the wrong spot, you can move the asset into the correct location. Please note that users can will only move assets that they have Write Permission on. For more information on how the site navigation menu is built, refer to the Using the Asset Map chapter in this manual.

To move an asset, drag and drop the asset into the location that you want to move it, and select Move Here.
Dropping an asset directly onto a parent asset and selecting Move Here will move the asset under this parent asset as a child, for example, moving an asset under a Site.
If you are using the old Java-based Asset Map, left click on the icon of the asset.
When you move your mouse in the Asset Map, a black line will follow the mouse cursor. To move the asset in between two assets in the Asset Map, place the line in between them. For example, to move the asset in between the Squiz and About Us pages, place the line in between the two assets, as shown in the figure to the right.
To move the asset as a child of another asset, place the box around the parent asset. For example, to move the asset under the About Us page, place the box around the About Us asset, as shown in the figure to the left. Please note that users are only able to move assets as a child of another asset if they have Write Permission to the parent. For example, this user needs to have Write Permission to the About Us page to be able to move the Copyright page underneath it.
Once you have placed the line where you would like to move the asset, left click and select Move Here. To cancel the move you can select Cancel instead. If you try to move an asset in the wrong location, you will receive an error message. For example, if you try to move a Standard Page asset to the Media Folder, you will receive an error message as you can only add files and documents to the Media Folder.
Once you have clicked Move Here, a HIPO job will appear in a new window asking you to confirm that you would like to move the asset, as shown in the figure below.
If you wish to continue with the move, click the Next >> button; the HIPO job will be processed and the asset will moved. If you want to cancel the move, click the Cancel button.
