Matrix Newsletter - May 2017
31 May 2017 By Bartek Banda
You might have noticed that we haven't had a single release this month! This is mainly because we're still working hard on finalising the upcoming 18.104.22.168 release, which is due out next month.
At the start of June, we're also hoping to have an RC version available for upgrade and final user testing. There is a lot of good new stuff in this release, so we want to make sure we do the best job possible with it.
In addition to release notes, we'll also be producing a video that will highlight all of the notable changes and new features that will be available when you upgrade to or install this version.
Unlock the power of Squiz Matrix 5.4 Webinar
If you haven't already, make sure you register for the technical webinar we're hosting tomorrow at 2pm AEST.
I'll be doing a deep dive into some of the powerful features and enhancements available in 5.4 up to version 22.214.171.124, and if we get time, I might also showcase some of the upcoming new things that are planned for 126.96.36.199.
We've had over 180 registrations so far and there is still room for more. Register here.
We've implemented a late change to the Forcibly Acquire Locks feature in the upcoming 188.8.131.52 release.
This feature basically lets System Admin users take the locks on an asset that are held by another lower privileged user, such as a Backend or Simple Edit User.
This concept has always been called "Forcibly Acquire Locks", and the screen that lets you do it is shown in a pop-up window when you hit the Acquire Locks button on an asset whilst another user already has them.
We've decided to rename this concept to "Steal Locks", in order to make it clearer and more user intuitive of what you are actually doing.
When another user has the locks on a certain asset screen, and you have the access to steal those locks from them, the button will now say "Steal Locks".
The pop-up screen has also been simplified and the inaccessible and old CAPTCHA box removed completely.
Search Page Tabs
In case you missed it, we've enhanced the search page on the site with tabs to filter the results.
Now you can filter the results based on the section of the site you are interested in. For example, if you are searching for a release version for a particular feature or concept, you can click on the "Releases" tab to only show you results from that section.
We've got more search enhancements planned for the site as well, so keep an eye out for more Funnelback goodness coming our way.
